I really enjoyed this bible study. Could you please expand on V25: But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does. What is the perfect law of liberty? Is this in reference to God’s love? Is not a forgetful hearer? Is this one who hears and obey the Word and apply it to our daily lives, correct?
I was thinking about you a couple of weeks ago when I received your email about the upcoming Bible study on the book of James. I wondered when it would begin — and look at God, He is truly AMAZING.
May God continue to richly bless you, strengthen you, and keep you.
Hi Mechell, thanks so much for reaching out! The Law of Liberty refers to the freeing of believers from sin. James is saying it does not absolve us of responsibility to obedience to the law. James’ point is that yes, were saved by grace through faith, but demonstrate our new hearts by our obedience and works.
Paul speaks about this as well in Romans 6 – 15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not! 16 Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness? 17 But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered. 18 And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness.

It’s a fantastic question, thanks so much.
